It's been over a month since I last posted anything and since then I've celebrated Christmas and New Year - both of which were quiet, but relaxing. I had loads of nice things for Christmas including a book which I can't put down as it's really good and the Writers and Artists Yearbook 2010 which I've wanted to get for ages, so now I've got no excuse not to get in contact with publishers.
I had a look this morning and was trying to find out about poetry publishers, as they are all I can write at the moment, but after reading notes written by a poet I've realised that it's harder than I first thought. I've had a few poems published, but that was out of luck and helped by the fact that the publishers contacted me after I entered a competition with my first one. Those publishers have since gone out of business, so it's back to square 1 and I really don't have a clue where to start.
My creative writing college class was meant to start again last Wednesday but it and my Psychology class were both cancelled due to the snow. Hopefully they will both be running this week as I don't want to miss anymore as I have paid to do the whole course, and I know it's not the college's fault that the weather is bad, but I can't afford to miss anymore lessons. I wrote a couple of acrostics and mini sagas the other day for homework, so I've got something to give in when I do go back and I'm thinking of talking to my tutor about the best way of getting my poetry published because she'll probably know the best place to look, though she has already recommended the Writers Yearbook.
I just get so frustrated knowing that I've got such a load of poems which I think would look good in a book and it's what I really want to do, but no one will listen to me or give me a chance. Hopefully one day I will get in contact with the 'right' publisher and everything will take off, but until then it'll be a lot of hard work.
