Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock star in the tale of a young boy
who struggles with the loss of his father after his death in the Twin Tower
attacks.
He finds comfort in the memories of his father and the times
they spent coming up with expeditions and is intrigued when he finds a key
amongst his father’s belongings. The envelope it’s contained in only says
‘Black’ and Oskar is determined to find out what the key belongs to by visiting
everyone he can with the surname ‘Black’.
Along the way he meets various different people and
discovers that while he has been trying to become closer to his father, he has
actually become closer to those still around him.
I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this film, but I
was interested to watch it due to the main 2 actors and the name of the film,
but I have to admit, whilst I did enjoy the intrigue of it, I wouldn’t rush to
watch it again.
It’s one of those
films that once you've seen it you don’t need to see again. It was weird in places
as I struggled to keep track of whether I was watching memories or the story,
but I’m glad I can put it on the list of movies I have watched and experienced.
