Mystery Woman: Game Time - review

The beginning of this TV movie starts with a masked man breaking into a house and stealing what looks like a file off a computer.

Two years later Mystery book shop owner Samantha Kinsey is preparing for a book signing by elusive author David Fisk when an old school friend drops by and tries to persuade her to sell his new computer game, Whodunnit? With her passion for books taking precedence, Samantha declines but does agree to try it out.

As David cancels his appearance at the store, Samantha visits him at home to try and persuade him to go through with the signing and in the process witnesses an argument between him and his ex-wife. When David finally agrees to attend the signing it starts off well, but when he sees postcards advertising Randy’s game Whodunnit, he suddenly leaves the store and isn’t seen again until the next day when he is discovered murdered with Randy standing over his body.

With no apparent connection between the two of them, Samantha sets off on trying to find out who killed David, but with her friend quickly becoming addicted to the computer game, Randy protesting his innocence and David’s ex wife keen to deal with his estate, Samantha has got her work cut out.

Could David’s murder have anything to do with the video game Whodunnit?

A great afternoon mystery TV movie which I enjoyed very much, though I worked out the killer way before the end.
