Double Jeopardy - Review

When Elizabeth Parsons (Ashley Judd) wakes up on a boat alone covered in blood, her initial reaction is to find her husband, but as she follows a trail of blood out on to the deck she fears the worst has happened as she finds a knife, but no sign of her husband Nick.

As the police take on the case and discover the couple recently took out life insurance policies, they suspect Elizabeth had something to do with Nick’s disappearance and consequently charge her with murder and despite her pleas of innocence, Elizabeth is sent to jail and faces the prospect of losing her son Matty.

To prevent Matty losing 2 parents, Elizabeth asks his nanny Angela to adopt him so she can still maintain contact with him, but after a couple of visits Angela and Matty stop visiting and appear to have also disappeared.

As Elizabeth tries to track down Angela, she discovers she has moved states and when she finally manages to get her phone number, she overhears Matty talking to Nick – the man Elizabeth has been charged with murdering!

With the help of her fellow cell mates, Elizabeth realises she was framed and finds out about Double Jeopardy – the piece of law which doesn’t allow someone to be charged with the same crime twice – so after being released on parole, she is determined to get her revenge and risks everything to get her son back.

Co-starring Tommy Lee Jones, this thriller was very predictable, but it didn’t stop me enjoying it.

Not edge of your seat drama, but definitely one to worth.
