Anna Brady is a Boston local who works as a stager – someone
who sets up apartments in order to attract potential buyers. With her boyfriend
Jeremy, she enjoys a privileged life and is delighted when they are considered
for an apartment in a luxury building prompting her to think he’s about to
propose.
As they enjoy a romantic meal before his overseas business
trip to Dublin, Anna is convinced he will propose, but when he presents her
with a pair of earrings instead, she decides to take matters into her own hands
– as it’s a leap year, she’s going to propose to him.
Following Jeremy to Ireland seems an easy task, but when
Anna’s flight is diverted to Wales she is forced to make her own way there and
after catching a ride on a fisherman’s boat during a storm, she ends up in
Dingle, a small village where the locals live a simple life.
After a disastrous night in the local pub, Anna pays local
landlord Declan to drive her to Dublin, but with his grumpy manner the journey
sets to be anything but an enjoyable trip as they face problem after problem including
them having to pretend to be married in order to find shelter after losing the
car.
As they spend more time together, the two of them start to
enjoy each other’s company, however when they eventually arrive in Dublin Anna
is reunited with Jeremy who surprises her with a proposal which she quickly
accepts, but is her heart still with Jeremy or has it been turned by a testy
Irishman?
Starring Amy Adams, this rom-com was fun to watch and
surprised me with how much I enjoyed it. Showing us scenes of Ireland gave it a
unique quality which made me want to jump on a ferry and go back over to visit.
Definitely worth watching.
