To look at Kate Rickman is a normal 19 year old; she’s
attending University, shares a house with fellow students and works part time
at the local Tourist Information Centre. But there are only a few people who know
the real Kate Rickman, the Kate Rickman who is a new identity for Jennifer
Jones, the young girl who killed her best friend 8 years ago.
Now living in Exmouth following exposure by a journalist in
Croydon, Kate is struggling to live with the guilt that has haunted her since
that day at Berwick Waters and can’t help feeling that her true identity could
be found out at any moment and when she’s arrested following a local crime just
because of who she used to be, she knows she will never fully escape her past.
Still attending regular sessions with her probation officer,
Kate knows she will never forget what she did and is encouraged to move on with
her life, but when she manages to get hold of the new address of Lucy Bussell –
the other girl who was there when Michelle Livingstone was killed, she risks opening
up an old wound from the past in a bid to make herself feel better in the present.
This sequel to Looking for JJ was an enjoyable read which tied up the loose ends left by the first
book. Carrying on from when Jennifer was relocated, it also gave background on
what happened after Michelle was killed, something I found was missing in the first
story.
