What have I been up to?

It's been ages since I blogged about what I'd done rather than a review of something I'd watched or read. Since my last update - which was in May! - I've been on holiday, had my results for my As Psychology Exam, applied for a new job and booked a few trips.

It was only 2 weeks ago yesterday that I made my way to Weymouth for my week long holiday, but it feels so much longer! As soon as I went back to work on Monday it felt like I'd never been away and I got straight back into working. The weather wasn't the best, a couple of days of sun then rain, but we managed to go out and do what we wanted to do. I spent one morning on the beach before the sky clouded over and then watched old war planes do a display in the sky, which was all part of the day long Weymouth Carnival. We went to the procession in the evening and though it wasn't as good as my local winter carnival, you could tell everyone had made an effort with the floats.

During the holiday I finished my book - Fallen (which I wrote a review about in my previous blog), went to the cinema and saw Salt & Inception (which I've yet to review) and generally had a relaxing time.

While I was on holiday the results for the As levels were due out so I called the college to see if they could tell me my results over the phone, but because I couldn't prove who I was, they said they would post them to me. So I got them when I came home and even though I wasn't totally surprised, as I didn't do the course for the qualification, it was just for interest purposes, I was a bit disappointed when I saw that I'd failed. I got a U - which means my answers were obviously soooo bad that they didn't qualify for a grade! Anyway, for someone who only signed up as I was interested and didn't even intend on doing the exams, I was quite happy that I'd been able to gain some knowledge about the subject.

For a while at work now I've been concentrating on performance indicators (something which I'm not even going to bore you with by explaining) as well as my normal job role and not long ago I was told that a job was coming up which would be full time doing the stats. So when it finally got advertised - the week before I went away - I made sure my application was the first one in and on Tuesday I received an email to let me know I had been selected for an interview! I really want the job as it's permanent - which is better than my half permanent half temp role and it's better paid, but I'm really nervous about the interview as I haven't really had many and I want to make the best impression I can, but all I can do is my best.

I've been busy booking some trips since I last blogged. It's been a while since I last saw anything, the last being Michael Buble and Westlife in May, and my big spending spree all started when I was watching 'Tonight's the Night' on Saturday night a while ago which John Barrowman presents. I think he's great and I really like listening to him sing, so I asked my mum if she would ever go to a concert of his - as none of my friends would be interested - and when she said yes, I was straight on the internet to see if he was currently touring and ended up booking tickets for the end of October. Then I saw an advert on the booking website for Priscilla Queen of the Desert, which I have been dying to see since I saw performances on Children in Need and other programmes so I ended up booking tickets for that also, and then the next day I booked tickets for Lord of the Dance which is the one and only tour Michael Flatley is coming out of retirement for.

I also ended up booking tickets for Tap Dogs (at the last minute) as I saw a performance on TV, thought it was really good and then found out that Adam Garcia is going to be performing, so again I was straight on the internet to book tickets and a coach!

It shouldn't come as a surprise that when I received my bank statement in the post the other day I was a bit shocked at how much I had spent from my account, but then again, I work hard and don't spend a lot anyway so why shouldn't I treat myself? It means that I won't be able to buy anything but petrol for the next few months - but hey, what else could I possibly need?

I will post my review of Salt soon, as I have written it but haven't had the time to post it and I'm currently working on my one for Inception as I'm finding it hard to write about without giving the whole film away.

Until next time....
