As soon as Luce enters her new reform school, Sword & Cross, she feels an instant connection with a mysterious and intriguing fellow student, Daniel Grigori. There's something about him which seems familiar to Luce, but she can't work out where they've met before.
While fighting off the advances of another boy and with the help of her new friends, Luce tries to find out as much as she can about Daniel, even after he has assured her they've never met before and what she finds out astounds her.
An intriguing and exciting tale, it takes a while to work out where the story is going, but the last few chapters is where all the action happens.
