Beastly (film)

A modern day take of Beauty and the Beast adapted from the novel by Alex Flinn.

Alex Pettyfer is Kyle, a self centered high school student who is of the opinion that looks are everything.

After insulting the 'ugly' people one too many time, Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen) - a witch pretending to be a student - places a curse on him which makes him as ugly on the outside as he is on the inside and gives him a year to find someone who loves him or he will stay like that forever.

So under the pretence of going to rehab, Kyle and his housekeeper Zola move into a new house to avoid him being seen and a blind tutor called Will is recruited to keep him up to date with his studies. But as Kyle spends more time with them both, he begins to realise that his life is easy compared to theirs and learns that looks aren't everything.

So with a new found respect for people, he sets out to find a shy student (Vanessa Hudgens) who was kind to him even when he was cruel in the hope that she can fall in love with him and break the curse. But will she fall in love with him in time?

I loved this film and could watch it again and again. It's one of those movies where even though you know the story and you can guess how it will end, it still feels like the first time you saw it no matter how many times you watch it.

Definitely worth watching if you like the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast.
