Cheaper by the Dozen - review

Kate and Tom Baker are the proud parents of 12 children – yes, 12 and when Tom gets offered his dream job of coaching a college football team, the whole family is moved to Chicago.

As the family struggle to settle in, Kate receives the good news that a book she has written about the family is going to be published, but she needs to go on a book tour in order to promote it. With the idea of leaving her children behind, Kate struggles with her decision, but Tom convinces her that everything will be fine and he will be able to juggle his job and the kids. But as soon as Kate leaves, chaos descends on the house.

With eldest children Nora fed up with being babysitter, she starts living with her layabout boyfriend who is not a fan of her brothers and sisters, while Charlie is struggling with moving so far away from his girlfriend. As the younger kids enjoy wrecking the house, running around screaming and creating mess wherever they go, Tom begins to struggle with keeping everything together.

Convinced he is doing the right thing for Kate and the family, Tom tries to combine his job and parenting duties by involving the kids in football practice and the team in family time, but there is only so much juggling he can do before Kate returns to a manic household.

With the kids feeling a lack of attention, young Mark feels left out of the family and after his pet frog dies, he runs away to their old house in the hope of reuniting his frog with its mother.

But when the family realise he’s missing, they rally round in the hope of finding him and bringing the family back together.

Starring Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Piper Perabo & Ashton Kutcher, Cheaper by the Dozen is a hilarious family fun movie which will have you laughing all the way through.

A great movie about the importance of family.
