National Security - review

After Hank Rafferty’s partner is killed during a shootout, the LAPD cop is lost without him, but determined to remain on the force.

Meanwhile Earl Montgomery is undergoing training to join the LAPD, but with his unorthodox ways and after causing major disruption during a training session, he is swiftly ejected from the academy.

During a routine drive round, Hank apprehends Earl as he tries to break into his own car, but with a bumblebee becoming involved, Hank is soon sent to prison on suspicion of racial discrimination after being caught on camera ‘beating’ Earl.

On release Hank becomes a security guard with National Security, much to the delight of his former cop colleagues and during a call out to a warehouse robbery he finds himself face to face with Earl who is now also a security guard.

Putting their differences aside they team up to catch the criminals who Hank recognises as the people who killed his partner Charlie, but as they manage to get away Hank and Earl go on the run to bring them down resulting in a hilarious chase ending on a cliff edge with only a crane on hand to help.

Starring Martin Lawrence, Steve Zahn & Eric Roberts, National Security is a comedy action movie which despite focusing too much on being ‘black or white’ had me laughing out loud.
