Identity Thief - review

Sandy Patterson is a family man with a good job who is careful with his money, so when he’s informed that his card has been declined at a gas station, he knows something isn’t right. This is confirmed when he receives a phone-call confirming his beauty salon appointment in Florida and a warrant is also put out for his arrest following an assault.

But as Sandy tries to explain to the police that they are after someone else, they don’t believe him until they look at the mug-shot of the person wanted for assault, a woman with the same name and date of birth as Sandy – an identity thief.

As word gets around that Sandy has piles of debt and was arrested for assault, despite confirmation his identity has been stolen, his new job at a financial firm is under threat until he offers to go to Florida, track down the thief and bring her back to Colorado.

Meanwhile Diana is happily posing as Sandy as she indulges her passion for shopping with no idea he is coming after her, but when he tracks her down and she agrees to travel with him, they both become aware that Sandy isn’t the only person after Diana.

Starring Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids) and Jason Bateman, Identity Thief is a hilarious comedy which I wouldn’t hesitate to watch again.
