All About Steve - review

Crossword compiler Mary Horowitz is obsessed with her work to the point where her parents decide the only way she’s ever going to meet anyone is through a blind date.

Enter Steve (Bradley Cooper), a news channel cameraman who changes Mary’s perception of a blind date. Excited by his good looks and friendliness Mary launches into her usual eccentric self and in the process scares Steve off, but not before he jokes about her joining him when he’s on location.

Convinced Steve is the one, Mary loses her job when her crosswords become all about him, but with her determination to prove they are meant to be together, Mary sets off on a crazy cross country adventure in order to join Steve wherever his job takes him.

Encouraged by Steve’s work colleague Hartman Hughes, Mary does all she can to attract Steve’s attention and when she finds herself involved in his latest news story after falling into a mine shaft, Steve has no choice but to finally notice her.

Starring Sandra Bullock in a role which allows her to let loose, I enjoyed this movie and despite it winning a Razzie award, it’s one which I would watch again.
