Uncle Buck - review

When parents Bob & Cindy receive a call about a sick relative they know they need to call on someone to watch the kids, but as their options get smaller and smaller there’s only 1 person left, Uncle Buck.

As the unemployed and unreliable brother of Bob, Buck isn’t considered a close family member, but when he’s called upon in the middle of the night he doesn’t hesitate in helping out.

With 3 kids to take under his wing, Buck has his work cut out as he deals with rebellious teenager Tia who can’t wait to grow up and the 2 youngsters who are open to Buck’s kind of fun.

But when his partner Chanice learns he’s blown her off again to take care of family when he’s so reluctant to have one of his own, Buck knows now’s the time to prove himself to be grown up and responsible.

Starring John Candy and a pre-Home Alone Macaulay Culkin, I was expecting this comedy to more than it was. Although there were comedic moments such as using the microwave to dry socks, it felt as if the combined talents of the cast weren’t used to their full potential and didn’t provide many laugh out loud moments.

Despite this, it’s still worth a watch as a fun family movie.
