The Love Punch - review

As Kate waves her daughter goodbye on her way to University, the reality hits her that with both of her children moved out of home, she’s now all alone. Although her neighbours Penelope & Jerry are keen for her to get back together with her ex-husband Richard, they soon try to set her up with someone new, but Kate has an online relationship on the go with Jean-Baptiste.

With Richard preparing to start his final week at work before retirement, he too starts to feel the loneliness of being alone, but when he turns up for work and discovers the company has been taken over by a French businessman and all the assets are lost, he teams up with Kate in order to get back their retirement money.

Determined to get back what they and the rest of the company have worked hard for, they enlist the hacking skills of their son to get as much information as possible on the new owner of the company and hatch a plan to steal a valuable diamond from his future wife.

With the plan involving travelling to France, kidnapping Texan business dealers and gate-crashing a wedding, Kate & Richard soon start enjoying each other’s company, but when they discover they need more than the 2 of them, who better to invite along for the ride than best friends Pen & Jerry who seem to have quite a few useful contacts.

Starring four of the best British Actors; Emma Thompson, Pierce Brosnan, Celia Imrie & Timothy Spall, this movie was a fun comedy caper which made me laugh out loud. Packed with hilarious moments I really enjoyed watching The Love Punch which although centered on preparing for retirement, showed that fun doesn’t have an expiration date.

I could watch this movie again and again – definitely one to watch.
