Sam's letters to Jennifer by James Patterson

Jennifer has wonderful memories of her childhood spending summers with her grandmother Sam on Lake Geneva. So when she receives a phone call telling her that Sam is in hospital, she returns to the place which helped create so many memories and is in for a surprise.

After visiting Sam lying in a coma, Jennifer makes her way to Sam’s house and finds a pile of letters all handwritten and addressed to her. Inside is the real story of Sam’s life, something she has always held back from revealing – even to her journalist granddaughter. But now is the time for Jennifer to learn what made Sam the person she is and allow her to escape into the past while dealing with her current grief which is still so raw.

As Jennifer learns things about Sam she never knew, she also finds herself opening up her emotions again and spending time with Brendan, a childhood friend who is also spending the summer on the lake, but who also holds a secret of his own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel of 2 love stories weaving together to create an emotional and loving tale. As always, James Patterson knows what he’s doing when putting pen to paper.
