Ben Stiller both directs and stars in this movie as Walter
Mitty, a Negative Assets Manager for Life & Time Magazine.
With his work involving looking at photographs submitted by
elusive photographer Sean O’Connell all day, Walter escapes into daydreams of
what he would like his life to be instead of grabbing life by the horns and
experiencing it for real.
But when an announcement is made that the magazine will be
going online only and the picture Sean submitted for the final cover is
missing, Walter decides to escape his hum-drum life and decides to live by
following in the footsteps of Sean in an attempt to track him down and retrieve
the missing photo.
As Walter flies to the remote island of Greenland, jumps
into the ocean and finds himself hiking up a volcano, he finally manages to
meet Sean and by spending a short amount of time with him, learns that life
can’t be lived through the images of someone else – he has to live it himself.
Co-starring Kristen Wiig and Sean Penn, I found this movie to be inspirational, although slightly
far-fetched and enjoyed watching it.
