The Pelican Brief - review

Julia Roberts is Darby Shaw, a young low student who when she learns of the assassination of 2 Supreme Court judges, writes a brief on her theory of who did it.

Sharing this information with her tutor, who also happens to be her partner, he shows an interest and also shares it with a friend who works for the FBI sparking a huge hunt for Darby as the brief works its way up to the President and seems to have too gotten close to the truth.

With everyone out to silence Darby and her theory, she seeks refuge in disguises and goes on the run. But when she makes contact with political journalist Gray Grantham (Denzel Washington) who believes her theory could be proved correct, despite both their lives being in danger, they work together to prove that the government is part of a massive cover up.

To be honest I found this movie hard to follow and understand who was good and who wasn’t. As it jumped around, I struggled to understand the plot and what the cover up was.

I don’t feel I could recommend it to anyone, as I didn’t understand enough about it to explain my reasons for the recommendation, but as a movie I’ve wanted to watch for years, I’m glad I’ve finally seen it even if I didn’t really know what it was about.
