Twenty-something Colin Clark is ready to start work and is
so determined to work in the film industry that he visits the offices of
Laurence Olivier every day until he’s given something to do.
As his determination pays off, Colin begins working as the 3rd
Associate Director on Olivier’s new film The Prince and the Showgirl starring
Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe. But as the production struggles with
Marilyn’s distant persona and insistence on spending more time with her method
coach than the director, Colin finds himself trusted into her inner circle
becoming someone Marilyn can shake off her celebrity status with and be
herself.
Against the wishes of her close friend and agent Milton,
Colin watches everyday to support Marilyn throughout filming, but when
production wraps Marilyn informs him she is determined to make things work with
her new husband Arthur Miller and asks that they leave their close relationship
in the moment, leaving Colin with only memories of the time they spent
together.
With a variety of well known actors among the cast including
Michelle Williams as the lead, Eddie Redmayne, Kenneth Brannagh & Judi
Dench, I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys relaxing while getting
lost in a film.
Based on a true story, I found this movie easy and enjoyable
to watch which I could happily watch again.
