Confessions - The Murder of an Angel by James Patterson & Maxine Paetro

As Tandy prepares to leave the security of Waterside Rehab centre after 3 months of attempting to deal with what most people never face in their lifetime, the nerves hit her when she’s allowed back into the real world.

With her thoughts of anger towards her parents and Uncle Peter still fresh in her mind along with the betrayal of best friend CP and former love James, Tandy is determined to try and start again and live as normally as she can, but when the car she’s picked up in is chased resulting in a near crash, she’s not sure her life can ever be normal.

Determined to destroy her uncle for his part in her and her brother’s upbringings, Tandy sets out to prove the pills they were fed as vitamins throughout their childhood are dangerous and are responsible for the premature deaths of children in other countries. But as she begins to put together her fight, her life is threatened more than once and she finds herself fighting against an invisible force and those closest to her when they believe it’s all in her fragile mind.

As Tandy struggles with who to trust, her suspicions are raised and she finds herself confiding in her therapist that her uncle is out to kill her as he knows she’s the one who can destroy his reputation, but with her mind racing and anxiety sky-high, she finds herself back at Waterside more than once as it’s feared she’s losing her mind. But strong-minded Tandy knows best and sets out to prove that although the pills may have had unknown affects on her, she’s not going crazy and will bring down her enemies no matter what it takes.

As a fan of this series since the first book, I couldn’t put this one down as I found myself back in New York with the Angel family willing Tandy on to use her detective skills once again when she finds her life threatened. With no idea how the story would end, this book gripped me and answered questions I had left over from the last one.

I hope another book will be written about the Angel family as it would be a shame for their tales to end, but the ending of this one also tied up the loose ends, so it may be that we’ve seen the last of Tandy and her brothers – hopefully not.
