One Chance - review

Based on the true story of Paul Potts, the first winner of Britain’s Got Talent, One Chance guides us through the life of Paul before he won the talent contest.

As a child singer in the church choir Paul has always loved singing, especially opera and even while working in the Carphone Warehouse as a salesman in Port Talbot, Paul hasn’t forgotten his dreams. When he meets Julz, a girl he has been chatting to online she pushes him to do something about his dreams of being a singer, so after winning a local talent contest, he uses the money to fund a singing trip to Venice where he gets the chance to sing in front of the great Pavarotti.

After he chokes during his performance, Paul returns home to set up a life with Julz, but as they begin a life together Paul is hit with a number of health issues one of which threatens his dream of singing again. But when Paul is inspired to take a chance on Britain’s Got Talent, he receives a standing ovation and a new life when he wins the contest and has never looked back since.

I found this movie very inspirational which although dramatised, gave an insight into the life of Paul Potts before he won the contest which changed his life and will have earned him a new level of respect from all those who have seen it.
