Following a less than successful debut novel, writer
Nicholas Heyworth is struggling to come up with a new one, so among writing
sessions he spends time teaching creative writing at a women’s prison.
Trying
to get the inmates to open up and use their creative skills, he struggles with
one prisoner Teresa who refuses to put pen to paper. On the last day of his
course he manages to persuade her to open up and she tells him of an idea she’s
had, but can’t seem to write about.
Five years later Nicholas is celebrating the release of his
bestseller Killer Student, but when Teresa shows up at his signing and makes it clear
that she’s not happy about him stealing her story, he has no idea the lengths
she’s prepared to go to to ensure she gets the credit for it.
With a pregnant wife to look after and another book to
write, Nicholas struggles with Teresa’s constant presence and pressure to admit
he used her idea. When Teresa ends up driving his wife away and steals his new
book by sending it to his publishers as her own, Nicholas has a battle on his
hands to reclaim his work as well as help a struggling writer before she takes
on the role she claims credit for – a Killer Student.
This TV psychological thriller was a great watch which I
enjoyed from the start. It kept me interested and also gave me inspiration to
write myself.
A great afternoon watch.
