FBI Agent Susan Cooper (Melissa McCarthy) is quite
comfortable sitting behind a desk as she guides her partner Bradley Fine (Jude
Law) through his missions, but when he’s caught and seemingly killed during one
such mission, she finds herself thrust into the field in an attempt to avenge
his murder.
With the support of friend Nancy (Miranda Hart), but to the
disgust of hardman and fellow field agent Rick Ford (Jason Statham), Susan
finds herself going undercover as she’s tasked with tracking and reporting back
on the Russian heiress whose aim is to sell nuclear weapons to terrorists. And with
the death of her partner still fresh in her mind, Susan decides she can’t stand
by and watch what’s happening and gets stuck in.
As Susan starts to find her feet, albeit a different technique
to other spies, fellow agent Ford turns up on his own mission to try and crack
the case, but he soon regrets underestimating Susan as she proves that in her
own ways and with her own skills, she’s the one who has the makings of a true
spy.
This American comedy action movie was a good laugh from
start to finish.
Directed by Paul Feig, whose other movies include
Bridesmaids and the new Ghostbusters movie, Spy
was a send up of all spy movies, especially James Bond, which provided a smile
and laughs all the way through.
