Based on two true stories, Julia & Julie intertwines the lives of Julia Childs – an American cook & cookbook author & Julie Powell – an unhappy office worker searching for a goal to achieve.
Following Julia’s progress from cooking school student to respected teacher and author, her story begins with her move to France with her government employee husband in the 1950’s and follows every step of her career.
In 2002, Julie is fed up with sitting in her office cubicle day after day, so decides to set herself a challenge. Combining her love of cooking & writing, she gives herself a year to complete every recipe in Julia’s book and writes a blog to share her experiences – good and bad.
With the theme of cooking connecting both women through time, Julia & Julie both record their own experiences of how learning to cook changed their lives & each create the career they were yearning.
This was a film which I had wanted to watch for a while and to be honest I was quite disappointed after I saw it, but I'm glad I watched it.
