Mermaids - review

Set in the 1960’s Cher is a single mum to two daughters who both have different ideas of life. Charlotte (Winona Ryder) wants to be a nun and admires their way of life while Kate’s (Christina Ricci) biggest love is swimming and spends her time practising holding her breath and entering swimming competitions.

With their mother relocating the family every time a relationship ends, they eventually settle in Massachusetts where Charlotte questions her faith when she falls for the young bus driver, Kate continues to swim every chance she gets and Rachel starts a relationship with a local shoe shop owner Lou Landsky who ends up helping the girls to happily live together as a family.

Co-starring Bob Hoskins as Rachel’s new love interest, I really enjoyed this movie and would definitely recommend it for a watch.
