As an advertising executive Kate’s dream is to land a big
campaign, but she also has another ambition – to be in love – an ambition which
is also shared by her mother who really wants to see her daughter settled.
While
she’s happily flirting and sleeping with a colleague at work, Kate’s aware he
has no romantic interests in her and only wants to see her on his terms.
At a friend’s wedding Kate discovers she’s the only single
woman and therefore is given the bride’s bouquet instead of having to fight for
it, but she also meets Nic, a wedding film maker who is also young and single.
Back at work when an idea Kate came up with is accepted by
her boss she naturally expects to be on the team for the campaign, so she’s shocked
when she’s told that because she’s young and un-married he doesn’t want to give
her a chance at the big time as she has no commitment to the company. But her
friend Darcy has a plan, in an attempt to secure Kate the promotion she tells
everyone that Kate and Nic are engaged and are planning to live together.
While Kate is annoyed at Darcy’s plan she is also happy to
go along with it when she is given the promotion, but she faces trouble when
her pretend fiancée is featured on the news after rescuing people from a
burning building.
With her colleagues all assuming she’s engaged to the new
hero, Kate has to think fast and reaches out to Nic in the hope that he will
pretend to be engaged to her so she can keep her job, but as they both play
along Nic starts to develop feelings for Kate and tries to convince her he’s no
longer pretending, but will she allow herself to fall for him too and risk her
job?
Starring Jennifer Anniston, Jay Mohr & Kevin Bacon, this
movie was a typical predictable rom-com, but despite that, I enjoyed it and
would watch it again.
