The Double - review

Retired CIA agent Paul Shepherdson (Richard Gere) is intrigued when he is called back into the field after a series of murders share the signature of a serial killer he spent years hunting, but never managed to catch.

With the FBI also involved in the case, Paul is paired with enthusiastic FBI Agent Ben Geary (Topher Grace) who is convinced the original killer Cassius is back, but Paul isn’t so sure and maintains the new killer is a copycat.

As the 2 agents work together Agent Geary begins to suspect that Paul is too close to the case, especially when he tells his wife that unless he leaves the case there’s no doubt he will be killed. But with Paul’s career built on his search for Cassius, surely he’s determined to do everything he can to finally catch his man?

Although I was eager to watch this movie, I found it very confusing towards the end and still don’t completely know if I understood it. With the point of the movie being intrigue, it revealed too much at the start meaning you lost that and ended up waiting for it to end.

Co-starring Martin Sheen, this movie was a big disappointment – not worth a watch.
