Armand and Albert Goldman are the owners of a successful
drag and cabaret club in South Miami Beach who along with their house-man
Agador live an out and proud life together.
But when their son Val tells them
he’s getting married to the daughter of a right-wing Senator, he asks them to
change their ways and pretend to be straight.
Determined to do right by their son, Armand agrees to play
along and even contacts Val’s mother to play her part, but Albert isn’t as
happy and is hurt that they can’t present the family the way they are.
However when it comes to the two families meeting, Armand
has a plan up his sleeve to be a part of the evening and when the press start
to learn about Val’s connections to the drag scene, Senator Keeley and his wife
Louise are soon grateful of their new friend’s help.
Starring the late Robin Williams alongside Gene Hackman,
Nathan Lane and Dianne Wiest, this 90's feel-good movie wasn’t as camp as I’d hoped
and I was disappointed at the ending, but I’m glad I’ve seen it.
